Assessment of genetic diversity in 55 herbaceous peony cultivars with SSR markers

Using SSR, a molecular marker, this study aimed to evaluate the genetic diversity and relationship among 55 herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) cultivars belonging Lactiflora, Hybrid Itoh Groups lay foundation for classification of cultivars, as well background analysis breeding new cultivars. Our results show that 86 alleles, 76 which were polymorphic, obtained by screening 13 pairs polymorphic primers from 100 initially tested primers, each them having an average 6.615 alleles. The range variation effective alleles was 2.243-7.800, PIC content 0.554-0.872 Shannon?s index 1.701-3.126. divided into nine groups based on UPGMA. This indicates have rich while phylogenetic most identified. molecular-based is useful simple reference method differentiate in crossbreeding programs.
